Governance and management are among the most important concepts in the intellectual and social system of Muslims. Throughout the history of Islamic thought, numerous thinkers have addressed the foundations, objectives, and methods of governance. According to the findings of this study, Allameh Tabataba’i, Muhammad Abduh, and Rashid Rida all emphasize the necessity of linking religion and politics; however, they differ in explaining the foundations of legitimacy and the role of reason in the administration of society. Allameh Tabataba’i, relying on Sadrian philosophy and Qur’anic principles, regards governance as the manifestation of divine authority in society; whereas Muhammad Abduh emphasizes the reform of religious institutions and a rational understanding of Sharia. Rashid Rida, within the framework of Salafi reformist thought, presents government as a tool for realizing the objectives of Sharia. Overall, it can be said that the main difference among these three approaches lies in how they integrate rationality, Sharia, and social experience in the process of management and governance. This research, using a descriptive–analytical method and a comparative approach, examines the foundations of governance in the thought of three prominent Muslim thinkers — Allameh Tabataba’i, Muhammad Abduh, and Muhammad Rashid Rida.
