Abstract
The tourism industry, as one of the most important industries in the world, plays a significant role in the economies of countries and in creating employment. However, this industry, like other sectors, is affected by economic crises. The present study was designed to design a model of tourist travel in the economic crisis of the tourism industry based on interpretive structural modeling. This research is exploratory in terms of purpose and qualitative in terms of approach. In this study, 15 experts were interviewed. The snowball method was used to collect information, and then the information extracted from the texts and interviews was categorized and analyzed using the content analysis method. Considering the intended goals, semi-structured interviews and text review based on the content analysis strategy were used to collect data. Finally, they were classified into 8 basic themes, 3 organized themes, and 1 comprehensive theme. The organizing themes included: social media, advertising, pricing, travel preferences, travel management, macroeconomics, changing financial priorities, household economics, which was finally based on the interpretive structural modeling method, the final model was obtained. According to these results, the economic crisis has a significant impact on the tourism industry. However, by adopting appropriate solutions, this challenge can be used as an opportunity to develop and improve the tourism industry.
